Klagenfurt’s “Wörtherseestadion“ impresses with a significant design. Effects are achieved by the roofing above the stands which partly consists of transparent double-webbed slabs. It was the aim of the architect team to develop a compact stadium which is integrated in the landscape.
The complex becomes architectonically concise by means of the dynamic elevation of the roof above the eastern stand. The ground floor and first floor are constructed in external thermal insulation composite systems and the façade is structured by railings.

The stands are as close to the playing field as possible and make every match a special live experience. The lounge and facilities for VIP ticket holders are situated in a spacious, raised box above the western building.

The upper terrace will be dismantled. The western building and the stadium from the distributor level will remain unchanged. The demounted parts will be reused. The process of the roof lowering is a great technical feat as this way the structure is not architectonically modified and the overall impression fully remains.

The ball games centre and the football academy are designed as steel skeleton structures to be able to make the expansion as variable as possible. The training halls will be provided with a glued wood truss roof structure.
Apart from the required general mechanical installations, emergency power systems, television-suitable lighting, loudspeaker systems, telecommunication facilities, safety and access systems as well as a video wall on the north side and on the south side, etc. are planned.
Furthermore, environmentally relevant measures such as heat-saving, solar energy production and ground water utilisation are planned.
