Klagenfurt Sports Park with the significant
stadium is a modern sports infrastructure that is embedded between a city, mountains and a lake in the three countries’ region of Carinthia, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia. The stadium, a ball games competence centre and the football academy make up the cornerstones of Klagenfurt Sports Park.
From the very start of planning, it has been the
vision of Klagenfurt Sports Park to provide
people interested in sports with a new stadium, and young people who are keen on sports with a modern
education and training centre. These include
a ball games competence centre (with the largest sports hall in Carinthia and one of the largest in Austria),
a football academy and
four training fields. It is therefore important to involve all the different interest groups and to leave the way open for further visions.
The
ball games competence centre is a pilot project of the Federal Government, aimed at supporting talented young sportspeople. Four halls, one warming-up hall, additional facilities and stands for approximately 800 spectators will be part of the ball games competence centre. A climbing wall, fitness and wellness areas, diagnosis rooms as well as relaxation rooms will round off the centre’s offer.
Around 200 children and youngsters (U15, U17, U19) will be coached in the
football academy. The schoolchildren attend state schools in Klagenfurt. Training and games halls, a boarding school, study rooms, medical care, changing rooms and a dining hall will be available for the youngsters.
Thanks to the realisation of different sports and cultural
events, Klagenfurt Sports Park has also become established as a popular venue throughout the region. Apart from the Bundesliga football matches, also concerts, company parties, gala events, seminars and even film shooting are among the most important events at the Sports Park. Last year’s highlights were definitely the UEFA EURO 2008TM and the concert by Herbert Grönemeyer.
The office of
Sportpark Klagenfurt GmbH is in the western building of the stadium. In addition to construction, the team of Sportpark Klagenfurt GmbH are also responsible for the management of the Sports Park.
